Turga Falls & Turga Dam

A tiered waterfall tumbling through forest and rock, with a calm dam nearby — best after the monsoon.

Turga Falls is a layered waterfall hidden in the forest near Ajodhya Hills, and one of the most loved natural spots in Purulia.

A short walk through trees and rocks brings you to the falls, which drop in several steps over dark stone. Nearby, the Turga Dam offers a calm, open stretch of water — a lovely contrast to the energy of the falls.

Best time to visit

The falls are at their best during and just after the monsoon (roughly July to October). In the dry months the flow is lighter, but the forest walk is still pleasant.

Safety

Rocks near the water can be slippery. Stay on the path, keep children close and avoid entering the water when the current is strong.

Quick tips

  • July to October is when the falls are fullest
  • The path can be slippery — wear proper shoes
  • Do not enter the water during heavy flow
