The Upper Dam is part of the Purulia Pumped Storage Project (PPSP) and one of the most scenic sights in the Ajodhya Hills.
A broad sheet of water stretches out between forested slopes, and the road along the reservoir offers several places to stop and take in the view. In winter the air is crisp and clear; after the rains the hills turn a deep green.
