27 September 2026 · By Ajodhya Flame Tree

Ajodhya Hills sit in the Bagmundi block of Purulia, close to the Jharkhand border. If you are planning to stay at an Ajodhya hill top resort in Purulia, this guide covers the essentials. Distances and times below are approximate — always check your map app before you leave.

How to reach Ajodhya Hills

By road from Kolkata

Kolkata to Ajodhya Hills is roughly 300+ km, usually 6–7 hours by car via the Durgapur Expressway and Bankura / Purulia routes. Start early to reach the hilltop by lunch.

By train

The common railheads are Purulia Junction and Barabhum (Balarampur). Trains such as the Rupashi Bangla Express connect the Kolkata area with Purulia. From the station, hire a car up to the hilltop — our front desk can help arrange one if you message us in advance.

From Ranchi / Jharkhand

Ranchi is the closest major city on the Jharkhand side, a few hours away by road — handy if you are flying in.

Best time to visit

  • October – February: pleasant days and cool nights; the most popular season.
  • February – March: Palash season — the hills turn flame-orange. (Our name comes from this tree!)
  • July – September: monsoon green; waterfalls like Turga and Bamni are at their fullest.
  • April – June: hot afternoons — our cottages are air-conditioned, and early mornings are still lovely.
