Every spring, the Palash tree — Butea monosperma, the “flame of the forest” — blooms across Purulia, and the Ajodhya Hills glow orange-red. It is the tree our resort is named after.
When does Palash bloom?
Usually from late February through March, depending on the year's weather. The season overlaps with Holi and with local spring celebrations in Purulia, when the region is at its most colourful.
Where to see it
- Along the roads climbing Ajodhya Hills
- Around the Upper and Lower Dams
- On drives towards Bagmundi and Matha
Tips for a Palash trip
- Book early — spring weekends are the busiest time of year in Ajodhya.
- Go out early morning or late afternoon for the best light.
- Please don't break branches or pluck flowers — leave the blossom for the next traveller.
Come for the flame trees and stay at Ajodhya Flame Tree — our cottages, gardens and hill views make spring on the hilltop unforgettable.
